The Palm Square project involved developing a masterplan for a new, vibrant public space in Cyprus. True to its name, Palm Square is designed as a private plaza surrounded by an array of restaurants, boutique shops, food stalls, and bars. Integrating these diverse elements into a cohesive and creative design presented a unique challenge, which was addressed through a four-step approach.
To enhance the aesthetic and environmental quality of the space, a series of greenery patches was strategically introduced. These green areas maximize the presence of nature within the plaza while maintaining the functionality of the space. Finally, secondary elements such as pergolas, benches, pathways, steps, and lighting were thoughtfully integrated into the design language. To evoke a relaxed, holiday atmosphere, palm trees and other exotic vegetation were chosen, contributing to a lush, inviting environment.
The masterplan for Eden Square harmonizes functionality with creativity, offering a vibrant and enjoyable experience for all who visit. By thoughtfully integrating design elements that reflect the cultural and environmental identity of the region, Eden Square not only becomes a hub of activity but also establishes itself as a landmark for the greater area. Its central location and versatile layout enable it to serve as a dynamic public square, fostering community engagement and becoming a cherished gathering place for residents and visitors alike.
